Learning Academy

We offer free anti-bullying training for anyone working with, or caring for, children and young people.

Adults have an important role to play in supporting children affected by bullying. For many children, knowing that there is an adult that they can trust to help them if they are impacted by bullying is an essential part of coping with it. For some children however, stigmatising attitudes about bullying and discrimination can create barriers and make getting the right support difficult. We want to help ensure that all adults who are involved in the lives of children are informed, supportive and aware of bullying so that they know what to do to help.

Our free digital training will help you gain the knowledge, skills and confidence to respond effectively to children and young people affected by bullying.

We’re encouraging all adults to take our Understanding Bullying and Responding to Bullying digital training courses which will help you to:

  • Identify why addressing bullying is essential
  • Describe what bullying is
  • Recognise types of bullying behaviour
  • Recognise the role of prejudice in bullying
  • Understand how promoting positive relationships is essential to preventing bullying
  • Apply a children’s rights-based approach to supporting children affected by bullying
  • Identify unhelpful personal attitudes and responses to bullying
  • Develop your understanding and ability to use approaches that support children and young people’s wellbeing when affected by bullying
  • Recognise solution focused approaches to addressing bullying
  • Understand the important role of policy and procedures when responding to bullying

Throughout our training, you’ll hear from young people, professionals and parents about their experiences and insights in relation to bullying to support your learning and practice.

This training offers a solid foundation of understanding and learning around anti-bullying that you can use whatever role you play in children and young people’s lives. You can explore and complete each short course at your own pace, and the system will be able to save your progress as you go along.
